There are multiple mistakes and misconceptions about this subject, the first being that it is only for the wealthy.  The second is that there is plenty of time to plan, death is an event 40, 50 or 60 years from now.  Other mistakes include giving all the assets to a spouse upon death, holding property jointly with right of survivorship, not understanding retirement beneficiary rules, and owning life insurance in your own name.  The list goes on and the main focus when TCM discusses these topics is to avoid these mistakes.

Every family should make sure that their property is passed on in the manner they choose, not by an arbitrary court of government agency.  Proper estate planning is extremely important once a family has children.  The selection of an executor, a guardian, a trustee and back ups for each, is key in making as smooth of a transition in the horrific possibility that a child loses their parents.

TCM will discuss wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and health care proxies prior to a client entering their lawyer's office.  This preparation will often reduce the time and money spent in this process while uncovering many aspects not thought of prior by the client.

The goal for TCM is to make sure the proper legal documents are in place to achieve the client's wishes.
